Rutilated quartz is a variety of quartz which contains needle-like inclusions of rutile. While usually inclusions often reduce the value of a gemstone, rutilated quartz is valued for the quality and beauty of these inclusions. The most common needle colors are golden yellow, copper red, silver, and black. Rarer colors include green, brown, and blue, while the quartz body can range from clear to smoky.
This pendant has an impressive 60ct (33x23mm) pear Smoky Rutilated Quartz cabochon. It is a translucent, warm tone, light tan with a variety of gold rutile needles overlapping and running in different directions through it. It is set in a handbuilt silver bezel beneath 14kt rose gold arches, bar details and two stylized seahorse heads that face outward. The top has gold curled pieces and a silver jump ring connects to an 18 inch heavy rolo chain. The pendant measures 2 3/8 inches long and 1 inch wide. Originally made in 2022, it is still in perfect condition. It has been thoroughly checked over, cleaned, polished and is ready to go to a new home.
